Doc Edits

These are the most common doc edits we do. You want to copy all these moments and put them in a doc edits scene before you grab b-roll selects so you don’t mess them up.

    • I usually start the multi-cam edit when the officiant begins speaking.

    • Cut back and forth to the best angles, but try not to be overly predictable.

    • Trim dead space and hide any shaky footage.

    • For audio, isolate the person speaking and disable other audio.

    • Try to mix in guest reactions throughout.

    • After I edit the main part of the ceremony, I go back and edit the processional. I usually “cheat” this footage so there are no awkward breaks.

    • Create a doc edit of each speech. Cut out long dead moments and hide with cuts.

    • Try to include laughs and stuff but isolate the speaker otherwise.

    • Fade to black and crossfade audio at the end of each speech.

    • Doc edit of each dance fade to black between parent dances.

    • If the person is mic-d use their audio unless it’s not cute.

    • Try to show both reactions and the best face as much as possible.

    • Typically do bridesmaids, dad, and groom.

    • Cut the audio where necessary.
